Extra care and Flexicare housing

Extra Care and Flexicare are housing options that offer a positive lifestyle choice for older people.  We offer Extra Care facilities in London and Flexicare facilities in Hertfordshire.

These facilities offer self contained apartments with a 24 hour a day, seven days a week care and support service on site delivered by a specialist team.  The service is tailored to your needs and care is provided by external agencies under contract with the local authority. All of our schemes have an on site manager, care team and 24 hour emergency alarm response service.

The schemes all have a variety of communal facilities including lounges, dining rooms and gardens to support activities and create vibrant communities.  They also include:

  • Security entry phone and CCTV
  • Lift to all floors
  • Level access showers or wet rooms
  • Fully wheelchair accessible flats. Some flats are wheelchair adapted.
  • Guest room
  • Laundry facilities
  • Hairdressing salon
  • Assisted bathing room
  • Mobility scooter storage and charging
  • Wifi

Service charges apply at each scheme for the use of these facilities, many of which are eligible for Housing Benefit.

Is this type of housing for you?

It could suit you if:

  • You receive home care services or have been assessed as needing personal care
  • You have changing care needs
  • You want to live in a home of your own but with care and support when you need it
  • You want to plan for a  future where your care needs may change
  • You are over 55 years old with care needs or have a disability with care needs

Care does not cover nursing or specific medical care; it will help you with bathing or washing, getting you up and dressed, managing your prescription medication or perhaps assisting you with meal preparation.
