Mayor of London visits our South Kilburn development

Computer generated image of Kilburn Quarter and its courtyardWe were delighted to welcome Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan to a tour of our latest development Kilburn Quarter.

Chief Executive Helen Evans hosted Mr Khan, alongside Cllr Muhammed Butt, Leader of Brent Council, MP for Brent Central, Dawn Butler and Angus Dodd, CEO of Quintain.

Also in attendance were James Murray, Deputy Mayor for Housing and residential Development, and Jules Pipe, Deputy Mayor for Planning, Regeneration and Skills.

Mr Khan was invited to view Regina Rice’s four bedroom ground floor flat. She has lived in the area her whole life and was born in Cambridge Road, which is next to Kilburn Quarter.

Our Kilburn Quarter development is split across four blocks varying in height between six and seven floors. When the scheme is completed in 2017, the blocks will surround a beautiful landscaped garden with children’s play area.

The development will offer 103 apartments for social rent and 126 for private sale, all with a balcony or terrace, with one, two and three and four bedroom apartments and duplexes available.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: "Getting to grips with the legacy I inherited from previous mayors - and the fact fewer affordable homes were funded last year than since records began - means fixing London's housing crisis will take time. It is crucial we get on with building the genuinely affordable homes our city needs.

It was great to meet residents moving into this new neighbourhood in South Kilburn today and encouraging to see boroughs like Brent pushing their housebuilding targets and providing more affordable homes for Londoners to buy and rent.

Last year, Network Homes built over 450 homes in Brent alone for a variety of tenures.

Helen Evans, Chief Executive, Network Homes, said: "Network Homes has a crucial role in the regeneration of South Kilburn, investing over £63million in the project and working with Brent Council and other partners  to deliver affordable homes to the community.

We're delighted to be able to show the Mayor our new  homes and that he had the opportunity to meet one of the families who will be living there. As a major developing HA in London, with a particular focus on Brent and regeneration we believe that good homes make everything possible. We are proud to be working with the local community to make South Kilburn a great place to live.
