We're set to deliver 111 affordable homes in Welwyn Garden City

31 July 2023

CGI of development

We've completed on a land purchase with Bridge Road Welwyn (2) to deliver 111 affordable homes on a brownfield site at Bridge Road East, Welwyn Garden City. The development will be constructed by New Ways Construction and delivered as a 100% affordable housing scheme, which will see Network Homes increase our presence in the town to over 200 homes.

The scheme will see one and two-bedroom apartments delivered with 18 homes for Social Rent, 37 for Affordable Rent and 56 for Shared Ownership with funding from Homes England. The apartments, for which permission was granted in September 2022, are being built using offsite construction methods. Residents are likely to move in by early 2025 with all homes likely to be filled by the end of the year.

It’s great we can proceed with this fantastic development which will deliver much needed new homes for people in district of Welwyn Hatfield. It supports our strategic objective of increasing the number of homes for people in housing need. It also comes at an exciting time for Network Homes as we pursue proposed merger with Sovereign Housing Association which could deliver 25,000 affordable homes across Southern England over the next decade.
