Job Title: Apprentice quantity surveyor

Summary

In this role with construction company Bouygues, you will learn and develop the skills necessary to support commercial activity in London. You will grow to be able to support the:

  • maximisation of commercial results of the project
  • procurement of sub-contractors
  • financial control of sub-contractors
  • delivery of monthly financial reports to forecast net margin and activity utilising the company tools, procedure and rules
  • liaison and collaboration with the construction and design teams in all aspects of contractual activities.

You will be enrolled onto a degree level apprenticeship course at London Southbank University studying Bsc (Hons) Quantity Surveying and a qualification leading towards membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). The learning elements of the apprenticeship take five and a half years to complete and will blend classroom learning and on the job training.

Summary

Are you looking to launch a career in construction? If so, this Drylining Apprenticeship will get you off to a flying start. Measom are a leading drylining contractor with a training centre in West Horndon, Essex and many construction projects in and around London.

When it comes to construction, you may instantly think of careers such as plumbing, bricklaying or even plastering. Drylining is something that is not commonly heard of. It is about forming the walls or ceilings of, typically, a new building. Essentially it consists of creating a frame from either metal or timber and attaching plasterboards to it.
Drylining is a specialist skill that is often overlooked and misunderstood but a career that has longevity.

You will do a mix of off-site and on-site learning, working with experienced teams to master your trade. After completing the 18-month apprenticeship, you will be a qualified Level 2 Interior Systems Installer. This is just the beginning - a career in construction offers you real opportunities to hone your skills and progress your career.

You can achieve your Level 1 English and Maths as part of the apprenticeship and work towards gaining Level 2.
