Summary

In this role with construction company Bouygues, you will learn and develop the skills necessary to support commercial activity in London. You will grow to be able to support the:

  • maximisation of commercial results of the project
  • procurement of sub-contractors
  • financial control of sub-contractors
  • delivery of monthly financial reports to forecast net margin and activity utilising the company tools, procedure and rules
  • liaison and collaboration with the construction and design teams in all aspects of contractual activities.

You will be enrolled onto a degree level apprenticeship course at London Southbank University studying Bsc (Hons) Quantity Surveying and a qualification leading towards membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). The learning elements of the apprenticeship take five and a half years to complete and will blend classroom learning and on the job training.

Summary

Women into Construction have partnered with the Home Builders Federation and nine major homebuilders to create a new programme, with the aim to recruit women into Site Manager roles. The programme has 45 places available in 2023 and they are looking for enthusiastic women who are willing to learn and have a passion for shaping the future of home building! The programme will  offer work placements and insights into the companies, the industry and roles available. Three cohorts will run throughout 2023, with the first two having started and further cohorts planned for autumn 2023. 

What does the programme include?

The programme takes place over four weeks and includes:

  • Online Information Session – come and meet the employers and find out about the programme.
  • Site Visits – to live home building sites in central locations across England plus an online tour for those further afield.
  • Online insight into site management week – five days of online training to give you an insight into home building and the role of a site manager
  • Personal development sessions to help you apply for the trainee role
  • An introduction to health & safety in construction
  • Insights into modern methods of home building
  • An opportunity to meet and impress each of the participating employers
  • Two-week work placement in site-based location near you – shadowing the site management team.
  • Full 1-2-1 support, provided by Women into Construction, including childcare & transport costs whilst on placement
