Apprenticeship success for Stephanie

09 March 2017

The 10th National Apprenticeship week has kicked off to a flying start with a launch event at Barclays Bank in Canary Wharf and more local events lined up for the rest of the week.

We continue our celebrations by catching up with colleagues from across Network Homes who joined as apprentices through our apprenticeship scheme. Stephanie Washbourne, Admin Assistant in our Customer Service Centre, shares her experience with us.

Stephanie said: “I completed my 12 months apprenticeship in September 2015. I heard about the scheme at Network Homes from my friend who also did an apprenticeship here.

“I gained a lot of experience whilst being an apprentice as it gave me insight into the different departments within the business. It allowed me to work out what I enjoyed and what I could focus my future career on. At the same time, I also completed a NVQ Level 2 Business Admin qualification.

“The apprenticeship scheme opened up opportunities for me at Network Homes. I am now a permanent member of staff, currently working as an Admin Assistant. I have completed several training and development opportunities from Equality and Diversity training to Health and Safety.  I have also taken active roles in implementation projects for new business systems such as CRM.

“I would definitely recommend doing the apprenticeship scheme especially if you’re not sure what you would like to do for a career. It gives you the opportunity to work within the different teams to see what you like doing. If you decide not to stay in the business, you still leave with a qualification and a lot of experience!”

If you’re interested in our apprenticeship programme, keep an eye out on our website for when we’re recruiting again.

We also offer Network Homes’ residents free training and employment advice through our Worksmart programme.  They can help you access a range of apprenticeship programmes including those advertised on our training and employment opportunities page. Contact our Worksmart team on 0300 373 3000 or email them at worksmart@networkhomes.org.uk for more information or to book a free one to one session with one of our training and employment advisors.
