Stockwell Park street enhancements mark the final stages of estate transformation

We’re transforming cluttered streets on Stockwell Park in Lambeth into tree lined avenues offering more room for pedestrians and cyclists. The revamp marks the final stages of a £200 million regeneration scheme on the estate and will see greener spaces for public use, new plants and trees, seating areas and community art along with refurbished undercroft parking areas.
Work began in August 2023 and follows on from a full resident consultation and due to complete in late spring 2025. Local school children were involved in designing some of the community artwork on the steel bases and bin store doors that will surround the new trees. Many of these designs have been inspired by local history, sites and landmarks around Stockwell and Brixton.
We have already completed some of the refurbishment work to undercorft parking areas. These improvements will provide a more secure and pleasant place for residents to park their vehicles with new security features including improved CCTV and brighter lighting. It will also create more secure bicycle storage space and encourage environmentally friendly transport options. There will be new indoor waste and recycling points to replace outside bin areas which should help minimise fly tipping issues and allow us to repurpose waste and encourage recycling. The refurbishment will also allow the potential for workshop, studio and commercial space along additional storage areas for residents.
Since 2007 we’ve invested heavily in Stockwell Park by building new homes, refurbishing, and improving existing homes and upgrading community spaces on the estate. This has included the £1.8 million refurbishment the local Community Centre, the refurbishment of the world-famous Stockwell Hall of Fame graffiti pen and £100,000 toward the revamp of the local skate park. Once the regeneration is complete, SNG will have delivered a total of 1079 new and refurbished homes on the estate, which will be managed by our subsidiary SW9 Community Housing.
