A blooming success!

15 September 2020

This summer, we got you all to show off your gardening skills by entering our summer gardening competition. The deadline for entries was the 15 July with judging taking place in August. It was great to see how creative you could get and although all entrants did a good job, we could only select one winner. Zoe, a resident from Ware, was selected to receive the prize of a £50 Love2Shop voucher.

As part of the competition, everyone who wanted to take part received gardening planters and composts. All they had to do was source and choose what they wanted to plant in their planter. They could create a vegetable pot, fruit pot or flower display. It was open to each person to add their own creative flare. We had seven residents, who have their own self-contained garden area, take part in the competition.

Once we had received their photographs of their planters in bloom, they were sent to our judge, and keen gardener, Helen Evans, Network Homes Chief Executive. On judging the competition and selecting the winning photo, Helen said: “It was a tough choice but…I like the whole garden photo and the fact that the planters are improving the appearance of a rather imposing fence.”

Well done to everyone who took part and to the winner!
