Ridgeway transformation features in Sele Farm celebration at Hertford Museum

14 June 2023

Our transformation of a former run-down estate in Sele Farm is being featured in the Sunshine on Sele exhibition at the Hertford Museum. A short film we made in 2019 which documents the £34million regeneration project we completed on the former Ridgeway estate was selected to be part of the exhibition which puts a spotlight on how the Sele Farm community came to be.

The regeneration transformed bad quality 1960s homes into an attractive new neighbourhood of 120 affordable houses and apartments for local families, built around traditional streets, landscaping and communal spaces. Residents were involved throughout and voted overwhelmingly for the old estate to be demolished and rebuilt.

We’ve been providing affordable homes in East Hertfordshire since 1995 and we’re proud to be the leading provider of social housing in the district. We also manage a community hub in Sele Farm which is a pivotal space for local groups working in the community and supporting the Council’s Regeneration Strategy for Sele Farm.

About Sunshine on Sele

From farmland on the edge of Hertford to a close-knit community with its own unique identity, this exhibition is a chance to discover the stories of the pioneers who made Sele Farm their home. Visit to find out how the estate has continued to develop, and what it is like to live and grow up there today.

Tim Goodwin

Sele Farm is close to my heart after ten years contributing to its regeneration. Network Homes owns over 800 homes on Sele Farm, so is invested in the continued transformation of the area. It’s great to see the regeneration of the former Ridgeway being recognised in Hertford Museum’s exhibition for its contribution to Sele Farm’s community spirit. We aim to continue building successful partnerships in the area and contribute to a strong sense of community where residents are proud to live.

Tim Goodwin, Regeneration Manager

The exhibition runs until Sunday 27 August 2023. Find out more and pay a visit the Hertford Museum to check it out in person! Exhibitions, Guides & Tours | Hertford Museum
