Network Homes marks the construction milestone of 100 affordable homes in Burnt Oak

23 November 2022

We're a step closer to delivering 100 affordable homes in Burnt Oak Broadway, Edgware, following a traditional topping out ceremony. Guests from Network Homes, the Greater London Authority (GLA) and building contractors ARJ gathered to mark the key milestone of the development which when finished will include new one, two and three-bedroom apartments along with a new supermarket and a gym.

Of the 100 homes, 75 will be for Shared Ownership, 19 for London Affordable Rent, and six for London Living Rent, a GLA scheme that supports residents in saving for a deposit to buy their own home. There will be rooftop gardens and a play area for residents to enjoy. The development also boasts green credentials with all apartments using air-source heat pumps instead of gas boilers for heating and there will be solar panels on the roofs.

It’s expected that new residents will move into their new homes in Summer 2023.

It’s great to come together and celebrate this this high-quality development which is progressing well. We have a key strategic objective of increasing the number of homes for people in housing need and these affordable homes will help us realise this ambition, as well as support new jobs and regeneration.

David Gooch, Network Homes Executive Director of Development

Tom Copley, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development, commented: “I am thrilled that Network Homes is close to delivering 100 new affordable homes in Burnt Oak Broadway, offering Londoners high-quality homes at affordable rates as well as the life-changing opportunity to get on the property ladder through the GLA’s London Living Rent scheme. The Mayor and I are committed to delivering more affordable housing for Londoners, creating a fairer, better, more prosperous London for all.”

Shaun Sheldrake, Operations Director at ARJ, said: “We are thrilled to have reached this fantastic milestone in the construction process. We feel privileged to be working for Network Homes and to have the opportunity to deliver much-needed affordable homes for the local community; something that is at the forefront of what we do. I was honoured to be part of the topping out ceremony and am very much looking forward to seeing the continuing progression of this scheme. Roll on summer 2023!”
