Worksmart Employment and Training Open Day

21 March 2017

On Tuesday the 7 March, we hosted a Worksmart open day event for Network Homes and SW9 Community Housing residents.  The event was held at our office in Wembley Park, London, and was a great chance for residents to access free employment, training, legal and welfare advice.

The day was split into sections that were focused on different areas of employment and advice. Residents were able to explore each area to gain further information.  They also had the opportunity to speak with one our experienced advisors about their next steps towards a new career or change of career.

Representatives from local organisations also attended the event, including Brent Works, Wates, and Workzone. They each gave a talk about the employment and training opportunities they have available.

In addition to employment and training advice, residents had access to free legal and welfare advice.

The event was a huge success. Many of the residents who came along booked further appointments to find sustainable employment and left the event with greater confidence and knowledge. They were especially pleased to find out about alternative career opportunities they did not consider before, such as apprenticeships available for all age groups.

Kamara Jackson, Employment and Training Advisor, said:  ‘Through our Worksmart training and employment programme, we support our residents to achieve their goals, such as looking for a job, thinking of a career change or looking for training opportunities. This open day was a great way of reaching out to our residents and we’re so pleased that so many of them came along to access this free service.”

If you are a Network Homes or SW9 Community Housing resident and interested in accessing training and employment opportunities, please contact our Worksmart team on 0300 373 3000 or email worksmart@networkhomes.org.uk.
